... Bertrand took some wireless headphones out of his rucksack and his smartphone to try his hand at the Chalon Off.
Bertrand is a bit of a geek... A decade ago, he was doing a duet with a groove-box on stage in Bourges.
He liked mixing a bit of technology with fantasy and good humour.
A few years later, the bAlllAd show took off and has been performed over 200 times in France, Belgium, Italy, India...
AND PONYME?
Éponyme! During all these dates, the need for a company name became apparent.
To have something to write about on festival programs, of course, but above all to start weaving a guiding line that would guide future projects. bAlllAd is now the name of the company.
OUR VALUES, OUR RESEARCH
Cie bAlllAd fuses its artistic approach with the values of popular education.
It seeks to transform the street into a playful, scenic space, where the public, local residents and onlookers can take part in the spectacular. It creates links and sprinkles its musical and poetic grain of salt into the street arts.
The company thrives on public spaces in the broadest sense of the term (streets, nature), and the values they can bring to inclusion, respect and openness.
Music and wandering are part of the Cie's DNA. While not all shows are mobile, audiences rarely remain seated for an entire performance... That's why Cie bAlllAd favors lightweight, energy-independent solutions in its creations.
TO BE HONEST...
... it's often the form that generates the content in the company's creations.
bAlllAd works on the form to make it as malleable and practical as possible, then confronts it with the audience. Creation takes place with the audience.
For example, "Proche" began as an experiment in the 20th arrondissement of Paris: the ZEF initiated by Ktha cie.
Three days of tests and recommendations from the invited audience.
Thanks to this constant back-and-forth, the company's creations grow in stature over time and adapt very easily to any audience.

Ma Maguette designed the costumes for bAlllAd.
Thanks to the Théâtre des poissons, the Monampteuil farm and the Pic' arts festival, the Ktha Cie, and the companies we've met along the way who inspire us in one way or another ( Cie Pudding Théatre, Cie Pernette, Cie Kudsak, le Mic-mac, Turbo-dancing....).
