La Cie bAlllAd
A hitchhiking trip, summer 2014...
... Bertrand grabs some wireless headphones from his backpack and his smartphone to try his hand at the Chalon Off du Off.
Bertrand is a bit of a geek... A decade earlier, he was performing a duet with a groove-box on stage in Bourges.
Mixing a bit of technology with fantasy and good humor, he likes that.
A few years later, the bAlllAd show is gaining momentum, and has been performed over 200 times in France, Belgium, Italy, India...
Éponyme! During all these dates, the need to have a company name was felt.
To have something to write about on festival programs, of course, but above all to start weaving a guideline that would guide future projects. bAlllAd now becomes the company name.
To be honest...
... it's often the form that generates the content in the company's creations.
bAlllAd works on the form to make it as malleable and practical as possible, then confronts it with the audience. Creation is done with the audience.
For example, "Proche" began as an experiment in the 20th arrondissement of Paris: the ZEF initiated by Ktha cie.
Three days of testing, and recommendations from the invited audience.
Thanks to this constant back-and-forth, the company's creations increase in gauge over time, and adapt very easily to any audience.
Of course you can,
There are a number of constants and values in Bertrand Devendeville's artistic approach.
Creating links and encouraging encounters.
Reconciling the artistic with popular education, drawing on the intrinsic and complementary qualities of these two approaches.
Sprinkling his musical and poetic touch into the street arts.
Having fun - don't forget that.
bAlllAd received support from the Conseil Régional de Picardie in 2019.
The bAlllAd show was part of Confluences Nomades at the Pôle National des Arts du Cirque et de la Rue d'Amiens.
"Proche" will be part of the "la rue est à Amiens" experimental program in September 2020.
pArrrAd will premiere in March 2021 at Le Hangar du Pôle National du cirque et des arts de la rue d'Amiens.
"Proche" receives support from the Direction régionale des affaires culturelles des Hauts-de-France, as part of the "Plaines d'été" scheme "

Thanks to Théâtre des poissons, la ferme de Monampteuil and the Pic' arts festival, la Ktha Cie, companies we've met along the way who inspire us in one way or another ( Cie Pudding Théatre, Cie Pernette, Cie Kudsak, le Mic-mac, Turbo-dancing...)....).
Thanks to François Dereux, former bAlllAd steward. If you're passing through Bouillancourt en Sery, stop by theAuberge du Vert Bocage, and buy the new owner a drink ;-).
Thanks to Cécile Caron for her support in prod. 2019/2020. Buy her a beer at the ST Riquier festival, but after her service ;).
